Rape Accused of 5Y Girl, Sentenced to Death in 26 days in Rajasthan

Jaipur, 17 March: A special POCSO court in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district awarded death penalty on Wednesday, to accused for raping a 5-year-old girl in fast-track trail in just 26 days and appreciated the swift action by the police in the case.

According to the police, on the evening of 19 February, the girl was playing in an agriculture field near her house, when Kumar 21-year came on a Scooty and abducted the girl. Other children who were playing with the girl informed the girl’s parents, and police were alerted.

The police were informed immediately and all roads were blocked under the direction of DSP Manish Tripathi. At around 8 p.m., the minor was found bleeding in a nearby village. After she was rushed to a nearby hospital, the police nabbed Kumar within five hours.

According to Investigating officer, Suresh Sharma (CI) said, “Swift action was taken in the case and all evidence collected. The charge sheet which includes more than 40 witnesses and around 250 documents were presented in the court within nine days, the court convicted the man on Tuesday and pronounced the death penalty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Wednesday.

The court also appreciated the swift investigation conducted by the police, saying it was an example of an ideal investigation which contained direct, scientific, electronic and circumstantial evidence, collected by the police was enough to prove the case.

This is the second case in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, three year ago, a rape convict named Vinod Kumar was sentenced to death in a similar case.
