Hyderabad: Neelakanta Bhanu Prakash, 21 year from Hyderabad has appeared the fastest human calculator in the world.
Neelakanta Bhanu Prakash Jonnalagadda has superhuman skills in doing complicated mathematical calculations at incredible, amazing speed with 100 per cent accuracy.
Bhanu Prakash, Math graduate from St Stephen’s College, Delhi, won the first-ever gold for India in the Mental Calculation World Championship at the Mind Sports Olympiad held in London this week. He will be the first Indian to win the prestigious title.
This has got him the nicknames “The Number Prodigy” and “The Fastest Human Calculator in the World.” His brain processes numbers 10 times quicker than an average human brain.
He competed with 30 participants from 13 different countries including the UK, Germany, UAE, France, Greece, and Lebanon and reached the top in the first attempt itself. Showing his prowess as a mathematical whiz kid from the age of five itself.
He finalized nine levels of the Abacus; Grand Master program offered by SIP Academy. He went on to win the International Abacus Champion ’13 and National Abacus Champion ’11 & ’12. Some of his World Records include “Fastest Human Calculation”, “Power Multiplication Record” and “The Super Subtraction Record”.
“Records come and go. I do not like personal pride. I want to build a community of mathematicians, human calculators,” he says.
“More than a cash prize, what it matters is an acknowledgement. I am being included in the Global Hall of Fame,” says Bhanu Prakash.

Bhanu Prakash has his start-up Exploring Infinities (EI), which is working with the Government of Telangana and through them, with students studying in government schools.
I am currently working on an arithmetic literacy building courseware which is to be implemented across govt. schools in the Hyderabad region. There’s a lot more to do and a long way to go” said Bhanu Prakash.
“My goal is to change the way Math is taught. My aim is to produce mathematical geniuses from government schools in Telangana,” he added.
