Rajkot: A devastating fire broke out at the TRP Gaming Zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, on the evening of May 25, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people, including 12 children. The fire started in a temporary structure used for gaming activities around 4:30 p.m., with many children present due to the summer vacation.
Efforts are ongoing to control the blaze and rescue those trapped inside. So far, 20 bodies have been recovered, according to Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident in a post on X, extending his condolences to the families of the victims and wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected.
The rescue operations have been underway for more than four hours since the fire erupted.
