Hyderabad: The Telangana Special Protection Force (TGSPF) has resumed responsibility for securing the Telangana Secretariat. A team of 214 TGSPF personnel officially took charge on Friday, led by SPF Commandant Devidas. They initiated their duties with a ceremonial pooja on the Secretariat grounds. This change is a shift back to the SPF, which initially managed the Secretariat’s security after it opened. Security control had been handed to the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) on April 25 last year. However, in a recent recommendation, the Director-General of Police (DGP) advised that the SPF, with its specialized skills in security and fire safety, would be better suited for the role. The government accepted this, assigning the SPF to oversee armed guarding at entry points, general patrol duties, and internal surveillance across the premises.
