Hyderabad, 14 August 2020: A settlement and bribe amount of more than Rs.1.10 crore was confiscated from the Mr. E. Balaraju Nagaraju (Keesara Tahsildar), B Sairaj, VRA of Rampally, Ch Srinath, real estate businessman who operates Sri Satya Developers in Swaroopnagar of Uppal and K Anji Reddy, realtor from Rampally Dayara. after the trap was set out by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Friday night and to catch him red-handed.
ACB officers carried out a surprise check at the home of Anji Reddy’s friend in AS Rao Nagar on Friday night. ACB officers found documents from Medchal Malkajgiri collector’s office in possession of the tehsildar.
There has been dispute over ownership of that property between two private parties. Local court directed revenue officials to settle the issue.
“Two businessmen were trying to offer bribe to the tehsildar to issue the proceedings of the land and start developing it,” said an official.
The amount was said to be given to the Tahsildar for allegedly doing an official favor in connection with an issue related to 28 acres of land in Rampally Dayara with Ch. Srinath, a realtor of Sri Satya Developers and another realtor K Anji Reddy.
Searches are being held at tehsildar’s Alwal house. ACB is also probing role of other revenue officials from Medchal Malkajgiri as they found original demand of bribe was Rs 2 crore.
Apart from Nagaraju’s residence, the ACB officials searched his office premises also. Sources said a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) B. Sairaj was also detained in connection with the case.
Since the bribe was mostly in Rs.500 denomination notes. The ACB officials said the counting of currency notes followed by the searches would continue till Saturday morning.
