Hyderabad: Amid Coronavirus Pandemic crises a medical representative, who lost the job and was not getting his salary ever since the lockdown started and was depressed after sitting at home for almost three months, was attempted to commit suicide. He was trying to say goodbye to his wife and made a video call and inform her about his suicidal plan.
Smart Wife immediately alerted the police on Dial 100.
According to police, It was around 6.30 pm on Thursday that the Tappachabutra Police patrol car received a Dial 100 complaint from Sailaja, the wife of Ramakrishna, informing them that he had called from a railway track and said that he was going to commit suicide on the railway track.
Smart Police, the police patrol passed on the information to Additional Inspector K Prasada Rao for quick action. Rao and immediately were able to trace the mobile network phone tower location of Ramakrishna, which showed him near Red Hills. The local Saifabad police were immediately alerted to check between the Nampally and Lakdikapul railway stations.
A police constable Nagesh along with Sailaja (Wife) were able to reach the spot in time. They reached the spot to find Ramakrishna lying on the track and managed to save him, minutes before a train went along the tracks towards the Lakdikapul station.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar tweeted on Friday, saying technology saved a life. “Man made a video call to his wife about his plan to commit suicide. Wife informed Tappachabutra Police which swung into action and traced him on the railway track and saved him from getting run over by a train. Felt so satisfied about the family,” (Sic), he tweeted.
Ramakrishna was later passed on to his family after counseling.
According to the police, Ramakrishna told that he was sitting at home since the lockdown began, was not getting his salary and after having liquor, decided to end his life. There were no other family problems, police said.
