Possibility of Oxygen Shortage in Telangana if Current Situation Continues: Health Minister

Hyderabad: Eatala Rajender, Telangana Health Minister said, there is a possibility of oxygen shortage in Telangana state if admission of Covid patients in hospitals continues at the same rate in future.

Telangana government request Union Health Minister Harshavardhan to allocate nearby steel plants like Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Ballari Steel Plant, instead of allocated Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha, which is 1,700 km away from Telangana.

Hyderabad being a cosmopolitan city, patients from different parts of the State as well as adjacent state Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh are coming to Hyderabad city for Covid treatment. Consequently, there is a possibility of oxygen shortage in Telangana state if the current situation continues any further, said Eatala Rajender.

He further requests hospital staff to utilize oxygen judiciously, and “It should be provided only to patients who genuinely require it since it can’t be purchased immediately,” he advised.
