Police Investigate Alleged Modification of Complaint in Teen’s Suicide Case

Hyderabad: Police have launched an investigation into a teenager’s suicide, following allegations that a police official from the Madhura Nagar station attempted to alter the complaint and threatened to charge the victim’s aunt if she didn’t comply.

According to the media reports, the 17-year-old girl from Bhadradri-Kothagudem district had been living with her aunt in Yellareddiguda and working at a store for a month before she died by suicide on the morning of June 24. The girl’s aunt lodged a complaint with the Madhura Nagar police, claiming that harassment by the girl’s employer drove her to take this extreme step.

Initially, the police official suggested removing the employer’s name from the complaint and resubmitting it. When the aunt refused, the police allegedly removed the references to the employer from the original complaint and insisted on a new one. They reportedly threatened to file a case against both the girl’s mother and the employer if the new complaint was not submitted.

After the incident came to light, special branch officials reached out to the girl’s mother and aunt to gather more information and address the allegations regarding the complaint. Senior police officials informed media sources that they are currently verifying all details and are committed to ensuring justice for the girl’s family.
