Lavanya’s parents alleged that their daughter was murdered by Venkatesh and demanded that he be hanged.

The Pilot, husband of 32-year-old woman, who alleged to have committed suicide, has been taken into police detention and investigation into the case is ongoing, told ACP Ashok Kumar Goud.

Lavanya had left a suicide note declaring that she could not bear harassment by her husband and so she is about to end her life. She had posted a screen image of a chat and a picture of a lady with whom her husband allegedly was having an affair, on social media prior to committing suicide.

“A woman has committed suicide under RGIA Police Station limits in Hyderabad. She has posted a video on Facebook in which she said that she was going to take the extreme step due to harassment by her husband who is a pilot. Her husband Venkateswar Rao is having an affair with another lady, and he used to both physically and mentally harass her. They wanted the divorce,” said ACP Ashok Kumar Goud.

Venkateswar Rao a Pilot by profession working a private airline and Lavanava was a software engineer.

The couple, hailing from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, had a love marriage in 2012. The husband and his relatives had been taunting her as she could not conceive.

“Last night an argument took place between them, and later she took her own life. Before that, she posted a video and wrote a note. Later, her husband got a call from his wife’s sister about her Facebook post and he went to check on her. He found the bedroom to be locked and when he managed to open the door, he found her hanging and shifted her to hospital where she was declared brought dead. We are investigating the case, and we have taken him into custody,” added Goud.

Lavanya Lahari took the extreme step after a fight with her husband Venkatesh. In the video posted on Facebook, she said she was ending her life as she was unable to bear the physical and mental torture at his hands.

Her relatives, who saw the post, alerted her parents, who then informed her husband. He rushed to the house but found her hanging.

She also alleged in the video that her husband had an extramarital affair. Police also recovered a suicide note.

Lavanya’s father said, “My daughter wrote a suicide letter stating that she cannot bear the harassment. I urge the authorities for strict action against Venkateswar Rao and his family that are responsible for my daughter’s death.”
