Hyderabad: A police constable of Ramgopalpet Police Station of Hyderabad City Police has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old minor girl.
An incident allegedly happened two months ago, and the family of the victim came into contact with the police on Thursday. According to her family member, the victim was lonely in her house when the suspect VS Umesh, police constable of Ramgopalpet Police Station lured the child to his house and apparently sexually assaulted her.
The suspect and the victim live on different floors of the same building.
“The child’s family filed a complaint with us on Thursday and we have booked a case and are taking up investigation. The victim along with her parent was sent to the Bharosa Centre for recording her statement as per procedure,” said C Anjaiah, Station House Officer, Bowenpally Police Stations, adding that the suspect was taken into custody.
Hyderabad Commissioner of police tweeted and said, “None is above Law” and he feels shame that there are such black sheep in the police department.
