Musi Riverfront Development is India’s Biggest Scam – KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has called the Musi Riverfront Development Project the “biggest scam in India,” accusing the Congress government of using the Rs 1.5 lakh crore project to fund their election campaigns. Rama Rao criticized the lack of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and warned against demolishing homes without proper consultation. He compared the exorbitant cost of the Musi project to other riverfront developments like Sabarmati and Namami Gange, which were significantly cheaper.

KTR accused the Congress of turning the Musi project into a “personal Reserve Bank” and pointed out the government’s hypocrisy in demolishing poor people’s homes while ignoring illegal government buildings. He questioned the Chief Minister’s commitment to protecting water bodies, challenging him to demolish his own house, allegedly built on a water body.

He also slammed the Congress for failing to deliver on election promises and accused them of using “destruction politics” to divert attention. While the BRS supports Musi River conservation, he stressed that it must be lawful and fair, with proper compensation for affected families. Rao vowed to stand by the people, even taking the issue to the Supreme Court if necessary.
