Locals Confront Electric Dept Officials, Forced Team to Leave, Call them ‘Adani’s Team’

Hyderabad: On Saturday, July 7, TGSSPDCL officials in Hyderabad’s Vattepally area under the Mir Alam division faced significant opposition while disconnecting the power supply for unpaid bills. The officials, who were at Guntal Shah Baba Dargah to address defaulters and investigate power theft due to meter tampering, were confronted by a large gathering of locals. Tensions were high following reports that the State government had assigned the task of power bill collection in the old city to the Adani Group. The locals, referring to the officials as ‘Adani’s men’, alerted local political leaders who quickly arrived and asked the officials to leave. To prevent conflict, the officials departed swiftly. Later, authorities clarified that the officials were not from any Adani firm and warned that obstructing officials from their duties could lead to legal action.
