New Delhi, 06 April: Justice N V Ramana has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of India by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Justice N V Ramana will take oath on April 24, after the retirement of current Chief Justice, who is due to retire on April 23. He was recommended by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde as his successor.
Justice Ramana will Chief Justice of India for a year and four months, till August 26, 2022, and will be retired.
Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, born on August 27, 1957 in an agricultural family in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.
Justice N V Ramana will be the second Chief Justice of India from Andhra Pradesh state, after Justice K Subba Rao who was Chief Justice of India from between 1966-1967.
