India Watching Hyderabad for GHMC Results, Counting Started

Hyderabad: All political parties and candidates are now waiting for the outcome of the elections which was fought extremely hard between TRS, AIMIM, BJP, Congress, and others.

In 2016 last GHMC elections, the TRS made victorious clean sweep with 99 out of 150 divisions, AIMIM won 44 divisions leaving only 7 for the rest.

Despite the high-pitched campaign by nearly all parties, on 1st December 46.55% voters casted their votes for GHMC election across the Municipality limit. The repoll in the old Malakpet division on 3rd December recorded with 30.26 per cent voting.

State Election Commission (SEC) and other authorities made all arrangement for counting, began at 8 am today at the GHMC counting centers.

Top points for the GHMC Election Results and Campaign…

  1. The results are likely to be known only in the evening or in the night since the elections used ballot papers. 
  2. The counting of votes will be recorded with security cameras installed at every table. Carrying cell phones in the counting center is strictly prohibited.
  3. The State Election Commission (Telangana) conducted the election with ballot papers because of the coronavirus pandemic and taking into consideration various relevant issues.
  4. The elections witnessed a polarizing campaign by BJP focused more on Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Changing name from Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar.
  5. BJP ropes national leaders like Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Yogi Adityanath, Prakash Javadekar, Tejasvi Surya and Smriti Irani hoping to convince voters in Hyderabad after Dubbak bypoll results in Telangana.
  6.  BJP’s state president found himself in a row after his comments that his party would conduct a “surgical strike” in the old city, if necessary, to send away Rohingyas and Pakistanis after it wins the post of mayor in the polls.
  7. The TRS campaign was led by its working president KT Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration.
  8. AIMIM’s Akbaruddin Owaisi in a poll campaign earned the anger by asking whether the “samadhis” of former PM PV Narasimha Rao and TDP founder NT Rama Rao, built on the Hussain Sagar lake bank, would be removed due to encroachment of Hussain Sagar Tank.
