Uttam Kumar, Telangana Congress President Resign after Party’s Defeat in GHMC Polls

Hyderabad, Dec 4: Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana state Congress president on Friday submitted his resignation from the president post, accepting moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in GHMC elections.

Uttam Reddy said, that he has requested the party’s delhi leadership to take up the process of selection of new president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee at the earliest.

The Congress who managed to win only 2 divisions in the 150-member GHMC. The party had 2 seats the 2016 polls.

Utaam Kumar, Member of Parliament, told that he had sent his resignation to the central leadership earlier also, now he requested once again to the All India Congress Committee to accept the same.

Unlike the BJP, which brought its national ministers and leaders, the Congress campaign was a low-key affair.

The GHMC results presents a hung municipal body. The TRS with 56 seats emerged as single largest. BJP won 48 seats and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) wins 44 seats.
