Hyderabad: The HYDRA (Hyderabad Disaster Management and Assets Protection Agency) has initiated a demolition drive to remove illegal sheds constructed in the buffer zone of Gagan Pahad Appa Cheruvu in Rajendranagar. These sheds are deemed unauthorized as they violate zoning regulations that prohibit construction within the designated buffer zone of water bodies.
The sheds being demolished are reportedly associated with T. Srinivas Reddy, a BJP leader and the Corporator of Mailardevpally. The drive is part of a broader effort by HMDA to clear illegal encroachments and protect the city’s lakes and water bodies from unauthorized constructions that could affect the environment and water management.
Authorities have been focusing on removing all illegal structures to restore the ecological balance around the lake and prevent further encroachments in the area. The demolition also serves as a warning to others who might attempt similar unauthorized constructions in protected zones.
