Hyderabad: The students at the University of Hyderabad protested and demanding that a caste census on Friday.

The All-India OBC Students’ Association (AIOBCSA) on Friday protested the University of Hyderabad main gate demanding that a caste census is an immediate need.

AIOBCSA has planned to send one lakh postcards to PM Modi and take their protest also online by initiating a 10 lakh Twitter campaign with the hashtag #ConductCasteCensus to urge PM to conduct a caste census.

“We request you (PM Modi) to conduct a caste census for taking inclusive policy decisions and making effective social welfare schemes. Caste census will give empirical data to the government to give OBCs their share in the development process,” the postcard reads.

The Post Card movement and Twitter Storm are the two initial efforts started by AIOBCSA. Students and youth in Hyderabad have started the postcard movement. We request others also to participate in the movement.
