Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has started preparing proposals for a new 2.65 km-long, four-lane, high-level iconic cable-stayed bridge over the historic Mir-Alam Tank in Bahadurpura. This will be Hyderabad’s second iconic high-level cable-stayed bridge, following the first one over Durgam Cheruvu.
The new bridge will connect Chinthalmet Road and the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway. In March, the State government granted administrative approval for the project, estimated to cost Rs 363 crore.
The bridge itself will be 2.21 km long, with entry ramps of 205 meters and 140 meters on either side of the tank, and an exit ramp of 110 meters. Additionally, the project includes beautification of the lakefront and development of tourism infrastructure and facilities for commuters and tourists, to be executed through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
