Hyderabad: On Tuesday, teams from the town planning department of GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) carried out a demolition drive near Mallepally X Roads. Six shops were removed as part of a road-widening project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in the area.
The move is part of a broader urban infrastructure initiative to address the city’s growing traffic issues by expanding key roadways. Shop owners were reportedly informed in advance about the demolition, although it’s unclear if all of them were able to relocate or receive compensation. The GHMC has been actively involved in such measures across Hyderabad to accommodate increasing traffic and enhance the city’s road network.
This road-widening project is expected to ease bottlenecks in the busy Mallepally X Roads junction, a known traffic hotspot.
