Hyderabad, 14 Aug: Four members of a family, Mother, daughter, son in law and 7-year-old grad daughter were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house in Wanaparthy district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Hajira Bee (65), her daughter Asma Begum (42), son-in-law Khaja Pasha (42) and their 7-year-old daughter Arsin Haseena.
There were no resistance marks or external injuries on the other bodies,” Except on Haseena’s body which had minor scratches, police said
Hajira Bee, wife of a registered medical practitioner Rahim, used to prescribe Unani medicines to patients comes with sickness at her residence in Nagapur village.
Police found a freshly dug-up pit with lemons and coconuts inside it has left them puzzled as the investigators are also not ruling out a ritual (black magic) for a hidden treasure.
Apoorva Rao, Wanaparthy Superintendent of Police, who rushed to the spot, said that bodies were found lying at different places in the house.
While Hajira’s body was found in the kitchen, Asma and her daughter Haseena’s were lying dead in different bedrooms. “Khaja was found dead on the veranda of the house, next to a pit he was allegedly digging for treasure. Coconuts were found next to every dead body,” she said, adding that the victims were frothing at the mouth.
It was said that Harjira Bee, used to believe that there was a treasure chest hidden in house. Some six years ago, she is thought to have dug up on the house the surrounding area but could not find any hidden treasure. Recently also, she was believed to have reiterated her belief of a treasure trove to be found in the house.
The bodies have been shifted to mortuary for autopsy and investigation is in progress.
KM Kiran Kumar, Deputy SP of Wanaparthy have stated that they would investigate the case from every angle, including a superstition angle as to why lemons, coconuts and other material were kept near died after consuming a toxic substance but were clueless under what circumstances they had died.
