Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer Rajiv Ratan passed away on Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest at a private hospital, as confirmed by official sources. Rajiv Ratan, 60, 1991 IPS batch officer, was serving as of Director General of Telangana Vigilance and Enforcement at the time of his death.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed profound sadness at the unexpected loss of Ratan, as stated in an official announcement. The chief minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
Ratan had previously led the vigilance and enforcement inquiry initiated by the state government concerning the Medigadda barrage of the Kaleshwaram project. Throughout his career, he held various significant roles including Karimnagar Superintendent of Police, Director General of State Fire Services, Inspector General for Hyderabad Region, and Managing Director of Police Housing Corporation, according to the release.
Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister Telangana paid tribute to the invaluable contributions made by Ratan to the police department in the state over the years. The chief minister emphasized that the people of Telangana will always remember the dedicated and honest service of the senior police official.
