Hyderabad: Syed Maqbool Zuber, a 44-year-old Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment for a chronic illness at a hospital. Zuber, originally from Nanded, was convicted in multiple blast cases, as well as murder and attempted murder cases. He was serving a prison term at the Central Prison in Cherlapalli.
In October 2023, the NIA court in Delhi sentenced him to life imprisonment for his involvement in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts, which killed 18 people and injured over 130. He was initially lodged in Central Jail, Delhi, but was transferred to Cherlapally in November 2023 to serve his sentence related to cases in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. Zuber was also accused of involvement in blasts across India in 2006 and 2007, and had been convicted in a murder case in Nizamabad and Afzalgunj.
