Drunk Drivers are Terrorists on Roads, 3387 case Booked, Driving License Suspended, Cyberabad Police

For the first offence, the Driving License would be suspended for 3 months and for second and the Driving License would be revoked permanently making the person ineligible to drive in India.

Hyderabad: In view of increasing road accidents recently due to drunk drivers, huge inspection has been initiated in Cyberabad to book drunk and drive people.

Drunk Driving claiming 166 persons lives across Cyberabad in year 2020, Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has said drunk drivers are like ‘Terrorists on Roads’ killing people indiscriminately.

In the last three days Cyberabad police booked 928 Drunk and Drive cases across Cyberabad, while in the entire month of December booked 3387 Drunk and Drive cases.

A penalty of Rs. 10,000 and or a jail sentence of up to 6 months for the first offence and a penalty of Rs. 15000 and or a jail sentence of up to 2 years for a second or subsequent offence were possible, and their driving licenses suspended as per section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
