Hyderabad: Commissioner’s Task Force (south) team on Saturday arrested seven members of a gang engaged in land-grabbing using forged registration documents in the city. The police also seized rubber stamps, forged land documents and other ‘incriminating’ material from them.
Seven arrested persons of the gang are identified as Ali Bin Mohammed Jabri (32y), Md Wasi alias Sweety (37y), Mir Shaker Ali (43y), Syed Karamath Hussain (48y), Wahed Ali (30y), Mohd Fazal Shareef (29y) and Mohammed Khan (20y).
Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad Police Commissioner told media that the gang used to identify vacant plots and prepared forged registration documents with the help of brokers. Using the forged documents and by threatening the authentic owners of plot and grab the plot. Later the gang members then would pose as the owners of the property and sell it to different people. Several unsuspecting persons had purchased the plots from the gang.
Anjani Kumar, CP Hyderabad said the gang was currently wanted in six cases registered at three police stations Chandrayangutta, Kamatipura and Mailardevpalli. Previously the land grabbing gang was also involved in around 10 more cases in Chandrayangutta, Balapur, Hussainialam, Bhavaninagar and Dabeerpura police station limits.
The seven persons along with the seized material were handed over to the Chandrayangutta police station for further action.
Police efforts have been made to arrest the other 7 members of the same gang who are absconding.
