Hyderabad: GHMC is getting ready to set up temporary shelter homes for the homeless and the needy due to winter season

GHMC already operating 18 night shelter homes across the city, and planning to set up more to help the homeless tide over the cold conditions.

The GHMC operates the existing facilities including in six government hospitals, with the help of different NGOs. GHMC also distributing blankets to the poor in different areas of the city.

Temperature in the last few days coming down to colder, GHMC officials are expecting more homeless people to take shelter at the night homes. “Arrangements are being made accordingly,” the official adds.

Municipal corporation issues directives to the zonal offices to help identify more locations to setup a shelters and for accommodating the homeless, needy, especially the old-aged people.

During every winter seasons, the GHMC launches a special effort to identify the elderly and the homeless living by the roads in the city and shifts them to its night shelters.
