Hyderabad: Three people, among them an auto driver and an 18-year-old girl were arrested, while they were trying to flee in an auto after dumping the body of a 70-year-old woman on a secluded place in Ramdevguda road in Golconda near Tipu Khan bridge on Wednesday.

Around 2 am, “The GHMC workers saw that some people were dumping the body on the footpath. They intercepted the auto and alerted us,” Golconda inspector K Chandrasekhar Reddy said.

The cause of death of the old-age woman, known as Gracy Mary (70), too was yet to be determined. Mary, according to a report by the police, Gracy had been working as a domestic help in a house in Habeebnagar for the last few years and was living there. Her son who lived separately and never visited her.

According to K Chandrasekhar, SHO (Golconda). “There are no external injuries on the body resulting in suspicion over the circumstances leading to her death. The woman whom we questioned told us that Mary worked at their house and she died due to natural causes. Since they could not afford a cremation, they were leaving the body there,”.

The police have booked a case and are investigating. Post-mortem report is also awaited to determine the real cause of death.
