AP Cong. Leader jumps in front of Train after Tested Positive for Covid-19, Dies

Sirigireddy Gangi Reddy, Kadapa district Congress vice-president alleged to have committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Yerraguntla late on Monday. He was 55.

The police have recovered a suicide note from the spot, and he mentioned that he is taking the drastic step after he tested positive for Covid-19. The police have sent the dead body to a government run hospital for post-mortem.

He reportedly disappeared from the hospital on Sunday after which a police complaint has been made. The 55-year-old Congress leader has been admitted to a private hospital in Proddaturu after he was tested positive for the coronavirus.

The AP Congress working president N T Reddy expressed condolences to the family and calling the death a setback for the party.

“Congress party Kadapa district vice president Sirigireddy Gangireddy’s sudden death is very shocking. He was a very active worker, good orator, and good worker for the party. He used to work on labour issues. He was a brave person. But he lost emotional balance after knowing that he is corona positive, and jumped before a train and died,”

“It is very hard to come to the terms with the fact that he is no more. Our heartfelt condolences to his family. I pray that his soul rest in peace. His demise is a great loss to Congress party and labourers,” he added.
