5 from Hyderabad among 12 Indian Women Rescued in UAE, Duped by Fake Job Agents

Dubai: 12 women form Indian were duped by a fake job agent and locked up in apartments, were rescued by in collaboration with by “Indian Association Ajman” and “Indian Consul in Dubai”.

MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan, a Hyderabadi social activist raised the issue with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar along with pictures and videos of the women from Hyderabad.

“We managed to rescue 12 women from Ajman in collaboration with the Indian Association – Ajman. A probe is in progress and seven of the 12 women have lodged complaints with the police,” said Neeraj Agarwal, Consul, Consulate-General of India in Dubai.

The women also claimed that they were not paid for months and were sometimes denied food and freedom.

Further, the Indian diplomatic authorities urged the Indian job seekers, especially women, not to fall prey to fake job agents.

Agents brought these women on visit visas and locked in their apartments. They would be taken to the recruitment agencies for a couple of hours in the morning so employers/family could come over and select them to work in their homes.

According to Indian Consul official “Two women are slated to leave for home today. The rest will leave over the next couple of days. We’re providing food and shelter to the stranded women.”

All job seekers, especially women, not to fall prey to fake job agents. They must go through proper channels.
