Hyderabad: At least 34 doctors died of Covid-19 or post-Covid-19 complications during the second wave of Covid-19 in Telangana between April 1 and June 6.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday said 646 doctors lost their lives to coronavirus during the second wave of the pandemic across India.
This means on average one doctor died from Covid-19 every two days between April 1 and June 6 in Telangana.
According to Indian Medical Association (IMA), 34 doctors died in Telangana, 35 doctors have lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh, 109 in Delhi, 79 in Uttar Pradesh, 43 in Rajasthan, 39 in Jharkhand, and 37 in Gujarat.
Among the southern states, 35 in Andhra Pradesh, 34 in Telangana, 32 in Tamil Nadu, 9 in Karnataka, and 5 in Kerala lost their lives amidst the second wave
30 in West Bengal, 23 in Maharashtra, and 16 in Madhya lost their lives amidst the second wave.
IMA demand from the government that, doctors who lost their lives in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic should be recognized as ‘Covid martyrs’, and their families must be supported by the government.
