On August 2nd, 2024, a major drunk driving crackdown led to the apprehension of 309 offenders. The breakdown of vehicles is as follows: 261 two-wheelers, 11 three-wheelers, 36 four-wheelers, and 1 heavy vehicle. Among those caught, 33 offenders had blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging from 200 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. All offenders will be presented before the Hon’ble court. Individuals caught driving under the influence and causing fatal accidents will be arrested and prosecuted under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), which carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in jail and a fine.

A total of 261 two-wheelers, 11 three-wheelers, 36 four-wheeler and 1 heavy vehicle drivers were caught. Thirty three offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. All those caught will be produced before the H’ble court. If anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and cause accidents killing people, such persons will be arrested and sent to jail under section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) for which maximum punishment is 10 years of jail and with fine.
