3,000 Public Toilets to be Ready by 15th August – GHMC

Hyderabad:  Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has planned to provide 3,000 new public toilets in different areas across the city. Works to this effect are being taken up on a war-footing basis and to be completed by 15th August 2020.

KT Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister recently directed the municipal corporation to construct 3,000 public toilets in different areas across the city for the convenience of citizens.

Until the date, 2,729 places have been identified for the construction of public toilets. Of these, construction of 140 public toilets has been completed and works are under progress at 237 locations.
Zonal Commissioners have been instructed to check the progress and guarantee the completion of 500 public toilets in their respective zones by August 15, Lokesh Kumar said in a press release.

GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar said in accordance with the instructions of the Minister, efforts are on to construct 500 public toilets in each zone by August 15. Already, reasonable places have been identified for construction of 500 public toilets in LB Nagar, Kukatpally, Charminar, Serilingampally, Khairthabad zones. Similarly, 229 places were identified in Secunderabad Zone and the remaining 271 places will be identified at earliest, said the Commissioner.
