Uttar Pradesh: At least 18 people were killed and 19 injured when a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, early today. The bus, traveling from Sitamarhi in Bihar to Delhi, rammed into the tanker from behind, causing a severe impact that flung passengers from the vehicle.
The victims included three women and one child. Visuals from the scene showed bodies, twisted metal, shattered glass, and destroyed belongings. The accident occurred around 5:15 am, as reported by Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi. The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and instructed officials to ensure proper care for the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his condolences and announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
