Rs.10,000 Crore proposed for Hyderabad Development in Telangana Budget 2024

Hyderabad: Telangana Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced a proposed budget of Rs.10,000 crore for various development projects in Hyderabad, emphasizing the city’s central role in the state’s growth. Key allocations include:

  • Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC): Rs.3,065 crore
  • Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA): Rs.500 crore
  • Metro Water Works: Rs.3,385 crore
  • HYDRAA: Rs.200 crore
  • Hyderabad Metro extension to Airport: Rs.100 crore
  • Outer Ring Road (ORR): Rs.200 crore
  • Hyderabad Metro Rail: Rs.500 crore
  • Metro extension to Old City: Rs.500 crore
  • MMTS: Rs.50 crore
  • Musi Riverfront project: Rs.1,500 crore

Additionally, Rs.1,525 crore is proposed for the Regional Ring Road (RRR), with a planned northern segment costing Rs.13,522 crore and a southern segment costing Rs.12,980 crore. The development plans include the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro with five extended corridors spanning 78.4 km and an outlay of Rs.24,042 crore. HYDRAA will have units for asset protection and disaster management, chaired by the Chief Minister.

The Musi Riverfront development aims to create recreation zones, and economic zones, and improve infrastructure, living standards, and the city’s image. A socio-economic survey by 33 Revenue Department teams is underway. The RRR will be an expressway, initially a four-lane highway expandable to eight lanes, with ongoing land acquisition.
