Dubai Based NRI Held at Hyderabad Airport for Threat Calls to BJP MLA Raja Singh

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police arrested Mohd Waseem, an NRI from Dubai, UAE, for threatening Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh over the phone. Waseem, originally from Barkas in Old City, regularly made threatening calls to the MLA, prompting Singh to file a complaint at the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police Station (CCS). A case was registered.

Investigation and Arrest:

  • The police traced the calls and identified the origin through the phones and IP address linked to Mohd Waseem.
  • A lookout circular was issued, and all airports were alerted. Upon his arrival from Dubai at Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad, Waseem was arrested by the Cybercrime police.

  • Despite several complaints, Singh accused the Hyderabad police of inaction and had escalated the matter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, providing evidence including screenshots of the threats.
  • Dissatisfied with the response, Singh allegedly gave the callers the contact number of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
