Wrestler Antim Panghal and Team to be Deported to India from Paris for Disciplinary Breach

Paris/New Delhi: Antim Panghal and her team are being deported from Paris following a major disciplinary breach. Panghal, who lost her opening bout in the women’s 53kg at the Paris Olympics, handed her official accreditation card to her sister, who was caught by security while leaving the Games Village.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced the decision to fly Panghal and her support staff back to India after French authorities reported the incident.

“Instead of heading to the Games Village, she reached the hotel where her coach Bhagat Singh and sparring partner Vikas, who is actually her coach, were staying. Antim asked her sister to go to the Games Village and come back with her belongings. Her sister was caught for impersonation and was taken to a police station to record her statement,” said the source.

Additionally, Panghal’s support staff traveled in an inebriated state in a taxi and refused to pay the driver, prompting the driver to call the police. An IOA official expressed frustration over the situation, while Vikas denied any involvement, claiming that Panghal and her sister were with him at the time.
