Amaravati: At least nine workers were killed and several others injured in a gelatin sticks explosion in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district on Saturday.

The incident happened near Mamillapalle village in Kalasapadu Mandal when the limestone mineworkers were unloading gelatin sticks from a vehicle.

Due to the high impact of the explosion that the body parts of the deceased workers were blown apart and the truck was completely burnt.

Police shifted the bodies for autopsy. Further investigation in process.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the workers’ deaths in the explosion and conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased workers.

The chief minister also enquired about the incident and its reasons from senior officials.
