WhatsApp Delays Data Sharing Policy After Users Backlash

USA, 15th February 2020: WhatsApp on Friday delays and postponed a data-sharing policy WhatsApp user concerned about privacy and data sharing of users and turns to rivals Apps Telegram and Signal.

The WhatsApp canceled its February 8 deadline for accepting an update to its terms concerning sharing data with Facebook, saying it would use the pause to clear up misinformation around privacy and security.

WhatsApp tweeted to retain users…

“We will make sure users have plenty of time to review and understand the terms. Rest assured we never planned to delete any accounts based on this and will not do so in the future.”

“Thank you to everyone who’s reached out. We’re still working to counter any confusion by communicating directly with @WhatsApp users. No one will have their account suspended or deleted on Feb 8 and we’ll be moving back our business plans until after May – “
