Unfair to Ask Andhra Cab Drivers to Leave Hyderabad : Dy. CM AP Pawan Kalyan

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has expressed his support for cab drivers from Andhra Pradesh who are reportedly being asked to leave Hyderabad by cab drivers from Telangana. He urged the Telangana government to address the issue with compassion and called for unity between the two Telugu states, emphasizing that asking Andhra cab drivers to leave is unjust.

Kalyan, an actor-politician and leader of the Jana Sena Party, stressed that displacing these drivers would affect 2,000 families. He met with some of the affected cab drivers who shared their grievances, including harassment and being asked to leave Hyderabad because it is no longer the joint capital.

He highlighted that unity is crucial for the development of both states and urged Telangana cab drivers to cooperate with their Andhra counterparts. He also mentioned that development in Andhra Pradesh would reduce migration to Telangana, thereby creating more employment opportunities in Telangana.

Kalyan assured the cab drivers that work on Andhra Pradesh’s new capital would begin soon, bringing new opportunities and reducing the need for Andhra cabs to operate in Hyderabad. He promised to work with the Telangana government to find a solution to the issue.

Last month, a group of Andhra cab drivers in Hyderabad had met with Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh to complain about being asked to pay life tax on their vehicles again. They argued that they had already paid this tax in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, and imposing it again would cause financial hardship. Some Telangana cab drivers have also been pressuring the Transport Department to stop taxis registered in other states from operating in Hyderabad, claiming it affects their business.
