Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) Boosts Efforts to Fight Drug Use in Colleges and Universities

Hyderabad:The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) and Telangana Police have ramped up efforts to curb drug use in schools and colleges by implementing new strategies and combining human and technical intelligence. Their recent actions include:

  1. Arrests and Raids:
    • Three individuals were arrested at Artistry Pub and Novotel HICC.
    • A raid at Cave Pub resulted in 33 out of 52 attendees testing positive for Marijuana, Cocaine, and MDMA.
  2. Educational Institutions:
    • Six junior doctors at Osmania Medical College were caught using weed; a formal complaint was sent to the Medical Council of India.
    • 25 students from Symbiosis College were apprehended for using OG Weed, with ongoing counseling for them and their parents.
    • Students from various institutions, including Guru Nanak Engineering College, Culinary Academy of India, Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, IIIT Basara, and JNTU Jogipet, were caught using ganja.
    • Indus School and CBIT students were found using e-cigarettes, sold by Ahmed and Jaffer.
    • Four government school students were found consuming ganja chocolates.
  3. Preventive Measures:
    • TGANB is conducting awareness campaigns with celebrities like Chiranjeevi, Suman, and PV Sindhu.
    • They are focusing on creating drug-free environments in educational institutions through constant intelligence gathering and monitoring.
    • Recently, an awareness program was conducted at Vijaya Rural Engineering College in Nizamabad, attended by DSP M. Somanadham and other officers.

TGANB’s intensified efforts aim to combat drug abuse and ensure safer educational environments by targeting both consumers and peddlers through comprehensive intelligence and monitoring
