Hyderabad: Faced with strong opposition from various groups and the main opposition party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Telangana state government has postponed its plans to change the State emblem and the Telangana Talli statue. Initially, these changes were set to be unveiled on June 2, as part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.
During a meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, it was decided to release the new State song, “Jaya Jayahe Telangana,” on June 2 while postponing changes to the emblem and statue. The song, written by poet Ande Sri and composed by Oscar-winning music director MM Keeravani, comes in two versions: a full 13.30-minute version and a shorter 2.30-minute version.
The state government also decided to replace “TS” with “TG” for vehicle registration plates and departmental logos. Over 500 designs for the new emblem and statue have been submitted, but final decisions will be made after further discussions in the Assembly. Chief Minister Reddy urged the public not to be swayed by false information.
The meeting included key political figures and cultural contributors, but representatives from the BRS, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and AIMIM were absent as they were not invited.
