Terrible Accident in Nalgonda 9 Dead, 11 Injured

Nalgonda: In a heartbreaking accident on Thursday evening in Nalgonda district, nine persons, including seven women and an autorickshaw driver, died on the spot and 11 another women suffered injuries when the seven-seater autorickshaw in which they were travelling hit with a container truck.

The condition of four of the 11 injured women is said to be serious.

The accident happened in Angandipet stage of PA Pally Mandal in Nalgonda district. All the victims were agriculture labourers and natives of Chinthalabhavi in the district.

The accident had taken place at 6.45 pm when the seven-seater autorickshaw carrying 20 agriculture labourers (mostly women) collided head-on with the container, about 51 km from Nalgonda.

The deceased were identified as Kottam Mallesh (40), the autorickshaw driver, his wife Chandramma (35) and his mother Peddamma (50). The others were identified as Nomula Peddamma (40), Nomula Saidamma, Godugu Iddamma (48), G Peddaiah and Nomula Anjamma (50) died on the spot.

Two other women who died while undergoing treatment at a Hyderabad hospital.

CM K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed shock over the accident. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased labourers and instructed the medical authorities to give the best treatment to those injured and hospitalized.
