Sushant Singh Rajput Case, Supreme Court Orders CBI Probe

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today said the CBI will investigate actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and asked the Mumbai police to hand over all evidence gathered so far to the investigating agency.

FIR registered at Patna was correct. The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order, says Supreme Court.

Supreme Court also said that any other FIR registered in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death will also be investigated by the CBI.

We hope that we should get justice very soon. The family is happy with the verdict, Vikas Singh, Lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father added.

Actor Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, had requested the Supreme Court to transfer the FIR or First Information Report registered by his family in Patna to Mumbai.

Senior lawyer Shyam Divan, appearing for Rhea Chakraborty, had raised up questions over the way in which the Bihar Police registered a FIR in the case and claimed that the matter has no relationship with the FIR registered in Patna.

Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14.

The Mumbai Police said it was suicide and has been probing accusations that he had been suffering from depression and had felt slighted by film industry insiders and cliques.

later, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh filed a case in Bihar blaming Rhea Chakraborty and her family of cheating his son financially and mentally harassing him.

The Bihar Police complaint led to investigations by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate into the actor’s financial status and his father’s complaint that crores were taken out of his account.

Rhea Chakraborty went to the Supreme Court asking that the Bihar case, which was taken over by the CBI, be transferred to Mumbai.

Rhea Chakraborty has denied all charges made by Sushant Singh’s father as “total nonsense”. In her court arguments, she had said the move to supersede the Mumbai Police investigation had become about politics ahead of the Bihar election.

The CBI has registered a FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the actor’s death after the Centre accepted Bihar government’s recommendation to transfer the probe in the matter from Patna.
