Engineering Student Lost College Fees in Online Betting, Gaming, Commits Suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old B.Tech third-year student, who was addicted to online betting, took his own life by jumping in front of a moving train between Cherlapally and Ghatkesar railway stations early Monday morning.

The victim, identified as R. Nitin, a resident of Saibabanagar, Lingampet, and originally from Ravindranagar in the Nalgonda district, had recently received Rs 1 lakh from his father, R. Srinivas, to pay his college fees. Police reported that Nitin, who had a history of addiction to online games, used the entire sum for online betting and lost it all.

Distressed over the loss, Nitin is believed to have taken his own life. Secunderabad railway police have registered a case of suspicious death and have transported the victim’s body to Gandhi Hospital.
