Nizamabad: Six family members drowned in Godavari River during holy bath in the river on Friday at VIP Ghat near Pochampadu.
The deceased were identified as Jilakara Suresh 4-yearold, his son Yogesh 16-year-old, Bobbili Srinivas 40-year-old, and his two sons Siddharth 16-year-old and Srikar 14-year-old, and Dodle Raju 24-year-old.
On Friday, Suresh native of Deekampally village and their relatives Bobbili Srinivas and his two sons from Yellammagutta in Nizamabad city along with along with Dodle Raju from Gutpa village and Dharpally Ravikanth from Manikbandara. All from Nizamabad district went to Pochampadu for a holy bath to perform pooja to Godavari River.
After performing pooja ritual they went to take holy bath in the river. They got into the river at VIP Ghats, but got washed away due to the high water. All the bodies have been fished out by the police.
Only one member of family, Ravikanth was rescued by local fisherman.
