Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized foreign-origin gold worth nearly Rs 3 crore on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Acting on specific intelligence about the smuggling of gold from Kolkata to Hyderabad, DRI officers intercepted a car on Wednesday night. Upon inspection, they discovered 3,982.070 grams of gold, valued at Rs 2.94 crore, concealed in two specially designed hidden compartments within the vehicle.
One secret compartment was located on the left side of the driver’s seat beneath the dashboard, while the other was in the frame of the trunk behind the car. The DRI seized both the gold and the vehicle and arrested the two individuals traveling in the car under the provisions of the Customs Act, of 1962. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
