Ranga Reddy Joint Collector, Senior Assistant Arrested By ACB in Rs 8 Lakh Bribery Case

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the Joint Collector of Ranga Reddy district, MV Bhoopal Reddy, and a senior assistant, Y Madan Mohan Reddy, from the Ranga Reddy district Collector’s office. The arrest occurred after Mohan Reddy was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh on behalf of the Joint Collector. The bribe was solicited from J Muthyam Reddy, a Balapur resident, in exchange for removing 14 guntas of his land from the “prohibited list” on the Dharani website.

ACB officials found the bribe money in Mohan Reddy’s car, and a chemical test confirmed his involvement. During interrogation, Mohan Reddy admitted to acting on instructions from the Joint Collector. He called Bhoopal Reddy to inform him of receiving the bribe, and later met him at Peddamberpet ORR to hand over the money. The bribe was transferred to Bhoopal Reddy’s vehicle and was later recovered by the ACB. Both officials have been arrested and presented before the court, with further investigations underway.
