Rachakonda Police Rescue 326 Children in July Under ‘Operation Muskaan-X’

Hyderabad: In July, 326 children, including 15 girls, were rescued under ‘Operation Muskaan-X’ across the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate. This operation aimed to trace missing children and rescue those involved in begging, rag picking, and child labor.

Nine teams conducted rescue operations in various industries, companies, and establishments, with a special drive against child beggars. As a result, 326 children were rescued, and 155 criminal cases were registered against their employers and businesses.

The Rachakonda Police urged citizens to report any information regarding child labor to Dial-100 or 1098.

As part of “Operation Muskaan-X,” the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), She Teams, and divisional Muskaan teams, in collaboration with various line departments, rescued 326 child laborers and beggars within the Rachakonda Commissionerate. This initiative aimed to trace missing children and identify child labor and adolescents in hazardous occupations.

The operation, conducted from July 1 to July 31, 2024, involved nine teams across Rachakonda, each comprising one Sub-Inspector (SI) and four Police Constables (PCs), including one Woman Police Constable (WPC). The teams carried out rescue missions in industries, companies, and other establishments and conducted special drives against child beggars, producing the rescued children before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

During this period, 103 boys and 5 girls were rescued within the state, while 208 boys and 10 girls were rescued from out of state, totaling 326 children. The operation resulted in the registration of 155 First Information Reports (FIRs) and 123 General Diary (GD) entries under relevant sections, including the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition & Regulation Act-1986 (CALPR), and Juvenile Justice Act. Consequently, 155 employers were arrested for exploiting minor children in labor.

The operation was supervised by Sri G. Sudheer Babu, I.P.S., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and guided by Smt. T. Usha Rani, D.C.P. Women Safety Wing, Rachakonda, along with G. Venkatesham, A.C.P. Women Safety Wing, Rachakonda, and N. Chandra Babu, Inspector of Police, AHTU Rachakonda, and their teams. Assistance was provided by the District Child Probation Unit, Labour Department, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, and Child Line members.
