Hyderabad: With the school reopening just weeks away, the Hyderabad District Educational Office (DEO) has issued an order to regulate the sale of uniforms and stationery in private schools. However, the directive comes too late, as nearly 80% of private schools have already sold their inventory.
The Hyderabad DEO instructed deputy DEOs and school inspectors to ensure that private schools affiliated with State, CBSE, and ICSE boards do not sell uniforms, shoes, and belts on school premises. The DEO cited a court order stating that the sale of books and stationery should be non-commercial, without profit or loss. Despite this, parents report that schools are charging exorbitant prices for mandatory materials.
