Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) and the local wing of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are exploring the feasibility of constructing a 1.2 km double-decker flyover and metro viaduct in Madinaguda (Gangaram).
Key Details:
- Project Proposal: The double-decker structure aims to address the narrow stretch, underground and overhead utilities, and a religious place along the route.
- Collaborative Effort: HAML and NHAI are working together, with HAML tasked to prepare and submit cross-sectional drawings for necessary approvals.
- Inspection and Planning: HAML MD N.V.S. Reddy and officials, along with ‘Systra’ engineering experts, inspected the Miyapur-Patancheru and LB Nagar-Hayatnagar metro phase-II corridors and the Mailardevpally-Aramghar-New High Court spur line.
- Metro Corridor Plans:
- Miyapur-Patancheru: The 13 km metro viaduct will mostly run along the central median of NH, except at BHEL Junction where it integrates with a bus stop.
- Mailardevpally-New High Court Spur Line: Over five km, starting at Mailardevpally junction, the alignment will shift sides to navigate the PVNR Expressway and Agriculture University flyover.
- LB Nagar-Hayatnagar Phase-II: A seven km extension of the existing metro viaduct at LB Nagar junction, the alignment will run in the central median up to Chintalkunta metro station.
Conclusion: The proposed double-decker flyover-metro project in Madinaguda reflects a collaborative effort between HAML and NHAI to address infrastructural challenges and enhance connectivity in Hyderabad. The project is in the planning and approval phase, with detailed inspections and alignment strategies being developed.
