Bihar: The principal of a private school in Patna has been sentenced death punishment and a teacher has been convicted for life by a court for the rape of a Class 5 student.
Awadhesh Kumar, Special POCSO judge, in an order passed the judgement on Monday, announced death punishment and a one lakh rupees fine for the principal Arvind Kumar.
Teacher Abhishek Kumar Co-accused who taught at the school situated in Phulwari Sharif locality of the city, was sentenced for life and a fine of rupees fifty thousand for his complicity in the case.
Judge Awadhesh Kumar, who declared the judgement, said the court had to take a strong view of the matter so that it could serve as a deterrent. The court also praised the police’s efforts to get solid evidence including DNA test reports.
The incident happened in September 2018 when the 11-year-old girl 5th class student was found to be pregnant after she was taken to a doctor by her parents who got worried over her frequent bouts of illness. Girl narrated her nightmare when the parents ask her with questions.
A case was lodged at the Mahila Thana here under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the IPC.
